Today we received the news we have been looking forward to hearing for 4 weeks. Blayze will be transferred to CKMC in Great Bend tomorrow as an inpatient for at least a few days and will start on rehab, he will then become an outpatient as soon as they feel he is prepared to do so, probably no more than about 5 days unless there is a setback of some sort. He will ride with Kathy and I and will be admitted as soon as we arrive in Great Bend. We hope to be on the road by no later than noon but it depends on how long it takes for the hospital to dismiss him. We encourage anyone who would like to visit him to do so starting Friday as he will arrive too late Thursday evening to plan on any visits. He looks forward to visiting with all of you. I will post his room # on the next update tomorrow night. His phone was broke in the accident but we will try to replace it as soon as we have a chance so he can start to call and text msg.
His pain is better each day now but still tough at times. They took him off the PCA pump today and are managing the pain with oral medication now. He had stiches and staples removed today from last Thursdays plastic surgery and things are progressing well.
We look forward to being back home again. Thank you for everything, the cards, messages, emails, thoughts concerns and prayers have meant so much.

Blayze has been in quite a bit of pain since his surgery last Thursday evening although it had subsided some today. It looks like things are progressing towards a transfer to Great Bend sometime this week although the final decision rests with the Orthopedic surgeon as of right now but we are anxiously waiting for his decision. They did take an x-ray today of his leg to make sure that everything still looks ok with the bones but have not heard anything yet. His Creatinine level continues to drop without the aid of dialysis and is getting close to the normal levels, this is a very good sign the kidneys are kicking in and able to perform their duties. He has been anemic and they did have to give him another unit of blood today. From what we understand the kidneys play a role in telling the body to produce blood and since they have not been up to par that would explain the slow blood production. His blood pressure has been high since the accident and at times very high even with blood pressure medication but today it was better, perhaps because the pain level is lower. They have had him walking on crutches some for the last couple of days but not for very long trips. He is very coherent now and is basically the same old Blayze but does not remember anything about the accident or even much if anything about that day.
He saw a movie where one of the actors had a prosthetic gun for his leg and he joked that he wants that and to become a secret agent for the government. We appreciate his spirit! We have been entertained from time to time with one of the patients who is in a room close to Blayze, they start yodeling (sp?) once in a while.
We are all looking forward to getting back and settled once again, and especially looking forward to the 5 of us spending a relaxing Christmas together as a family, it will be a special one.
We appreciate all of you, thanks for your friendship and support.

Blayze went into surgery about 6:30 this evening. The surgeries went well and he was out of the operating room about 4 hrs later. They repaired the fractures to his face and finalized the amputation so barring any major setbacks or infections he should be done with surgeries. The plastic surgeon told us tonight with an amazed look on his face "that kid obviously has an amazing will to live when I look back at his condition when he came in". He was very anxious today in anticipation of the surgery, he is ready to get this done and get back to Kansas for recovery. The doctor said if all goes well for the next few days that he should be able to be transferred to Kansas around next Tuesday, give or take a day. Early this week they were shooting for transferring him this weekend but they could not get the surgeons schedules coordinated to perform the surgeries until tonight. We are in his room waiting for him to come back from the recovery. I'm sure he will be glad to have a cool drink of water since its been awhile since he was able to have anything.
Thanks to all again for all the prayers and being such great support.

Blayze's surgery closing the amputation and on his face is probably going to occur early this week. The amputation will only temporarily be closed until his broken lower leg heals and then they will complete the permanent close of the amputation. The hardware that they are using to keep the broken bones in place is too close to the area that they will shorten the leg up to so the prosthesis will fit and work properly so they cannot do the permanent closing until that time. Blayze still goes off into left field at times and struggles with coherence and understanding.
They read the cards and emails everyday and greatly enjoy and appreciate everyones concerns and support

Randy has been sending in daily updates on his son, Blayze. We want to thank all of you for your concern for the Bahe's, and we will give you a condensed update from the last few days. From there, we will be be posting regular updates on the Advisor News page to update his condition.
As of yesterday, Blayze is off dialysis but the Creatinine level has risen, so they are thinking that he will be put back on it from time to time. At times, he will be coherent and yet at other times he has a lot of frustration and confusion. He keeps trying to talk Randy into taking him to the hotel to hang out with them, and they explain that they do not have the knowledge or equipment to take care of him and that upsets him.
Yesterday, one of the doctors was working on replacing his wound vac on the end of his bad leg which was very painful for him, after it was over and we were visiting he commented that it looked like they were cutting on a chicken bone. He obviously notices something but it does not fully register and we do not think he fully comprehends what has occurred with it. We feel he subconsciously knows something is different and missing but has not processed it. Several of the nurses have stopped by who worked on him in the ER and ICU immediately after he arrived and have commented on how well he has come along after what occurred with him and how bad he was when he came into the hospital.
The Bahe's send thanks to you for your concern. If you would like to contact them, you can find their address below.
